ForkThis is built to help you cook better, not to collect data about you. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. If you have questions, email [email protected].
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. This is used only to authenticate you and communicate essential information about your account (e.g., password resets, major service changes). We do not send marketing emails without your explicit consent.
App content. We store the data you create in ForkThis: recipes you import, your pantry inventory, grocery lists, meal plans, cook history, and preferences. This data is stored on secure servers to power the app across your devices.
Usage data. We collect anonymized, aggregated usage data (e.g., which features are used, app performance metrics) to improve the product. We use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool that does not use cookies, does not track individuals across sites, and is GDPR-compliant.
Error reports. If the app crashes or encounters an error, we may collect anonymized error reports via Sentry. These include technical information about what went wrong but do not include your personal content.
When you import a recipe by URL, the content of that URL is sent to our server for processing. To extract structured recipe data from unformatted content (such as TikTok captions or Instagram posts), we may send the text to a third-party AI API (currently Anthropic). The AI receives only the raw text needed to parse the recipe — no personal information is included.
Once a URL has been successfully imported, the extracted recipe is cached on our servers. Subsequent imports of the same URL by any user return the cached result without additional AI processing.
When you use the AI ingredient photo scanning feature, the image is sent to OpenAI's API for analysis. Images are not stored after processing.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
You can export all your data (recipes, pantry, meal plans, cook history) at any time from Settings → Export Data. We believe your data belongs to you.
ForkThis is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We will notify you of material changes to this policy via email or an in-app notice before the changes take effect.
