Why does recipe importing have a limit on the free tier?
Every recipe import runs an AI model to parse the content from TikTok captions, Instagram posts, and other sources. That AI call has a real cost per use. The free tier (10 imports/month) covers most casual users. Plus ($4.99/month) is for people who import frequently โ it's priced at the minimum needed to cover the cost of running it.
A recipe didn't import correctly. What do I do?
Some sites block automated access (AllRecipes, Delish), some are behind paywalls (NYT Cooking), and some have unusual formatting. If a URL fails, try the "Import from photo" or "Import from text" options instead โ you can photograph the screen or paste the recipe text directly. Email us the URL that failed and we'll look at adding support for it.
How do I cancel my Plus subscription?
Go to Settings โ Subscription โ Manage Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period โ you keep Plus access until then. If you paid via Stripe, you can also manage it directly at billing.stripe.com.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. If the service isn't working as described, email us within 14 days of your purchase and we'll issue a full refund. No questions asked within 14 days.
How do I export my data?
Go to Settings โ Export Data. You'll get a ZIP file containing all your recipes (including in CookLang format), pantry, meal plans, and cook history. Your data is always yours and always exportable.
Is the app available on iOS / Android?
ForkThis is currently a web app (PWA) that works on any browser, including mobile. On iOS, you can add it to your home screen via Safari โ Share โ Add to Home Screen for an app-like experience. A native iOS app submission is planned.
Does it work offline?
Partially. The app caches recently viewed recipes and pantry data for offline viewing. Importing new recipes, syncing changes, and generating grocery lists require an internet connection.
How does the pantry matching work?
When you tap "What can I cook tonight?", ForkThis compares the ingredient list of each saved recipe against your current pantry inventory. Ingredients are normalized โ "chicken broth" matches "chicken stock", "1 garlic clove" matches "garlic", etc. The more complete your pantry, the more accurate the results. It also factors in expiration dates, surfacing recipes that use ingredients expiring soon.
Can I share a pantry with my household?
Yes. Go to Settings โ Household โ Create Household, then share the invite code with your household members. Everyone in the household shares a single pantry โ when one person updates it, everyone sees the change.
What happens to my data if ForkThis shuts down?
You can export all your data at any time from Settings โ Export Data. If the service were ever to shut down, we would give at least 60 days notice and a final export window. Your recipes are stored in standard formats (including CookLang .cook files) so they're usable elsewhere.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
